Just heard Taylor Phinney won the U23 edition of Paris-Roubaix. Wow! Now I’m not even a huge Phinney fan, but, man!—that is just a major, major result for USACycling! Congratulations, and way to put the states on the map!

U23 Paris-Roubaix
May 31, 2009Kevin Devine Show
May 30, 2009To be perfectly honest, I wasn’t that impressed. One opener was decent. The other was hardly tolerable—definitely a test of my love for Mr. Devine. KD himself and the back-up band played very well too (and definitely enjoyed themselves!), but a couple things irritated me last night: 1) My favorite KD songs are so lyrically driven that it was almost too much to have a rock band backing him (no matter how hard they rocked!); 2) The more popular any artist gets, the greater and more annoying the audience becomes. So this might have been the last time I chose to see him live, but, thankfully, his recordings more than suffice for me!
Here’s a link to “Ballgame” and below is a live pic from last year (no camera last night):
Bugle Seventy-Six
May 29, 2009This is simply the beat podcast out there, and today’s episode rivaled the ones in the 30s mocking both the democratic and republican national conventions last year. About eight minutes in today’s posted podcast, Zaltzman goes for the world record of most consecutive North Korean puns. Absolutely brilliant!
