In France, it’s the first mountain stage of the Tour (although it’s actually in Andorra this year), which is always an exciting day. All the expectations and build-up from the riders, the press, everyone—most of it will be turned on its head as, finally, the road will decide who’s boss!
State-side, it’s the first day of Superweek, the Beverly Criterium, which is one of my favorite crits all time. Wish me luck!
Mark Zalewski (cyclingnews.com) with that photo from ’07’s race. Look way far back in that line for a skinny dude in black/white/green. That’s me, hanging on for dear life (alas, for only 1.5 out of 2.5 hours), in one of my first P/1/2 races ever. I hope tonight goes differently!
