Ah, yes, now that the road season is winding down, thesis season gets into full-swing. Translation: less blogging, simpler seth-meyer.com. I’ll still be tweeting music, coffee, cycling, school, and all-around ridiculousness though. But, for now, goodbye blogging!

April 15, 2009So TimeOut just named this place the best coffee shop in Chicago? No kidding. I was pretty stoked when Geoff turned me on to it last early spring, right when it opened. And they make a killer caramellatte here. Best in Chicago, though? I’m not convinced.
While I dig the low countertops and the overall chic, modern design, the look almost outdoes the feel here. It’s almost too super, modern, euro-cool when sometimes all I would really like is a nice giant room with a super comfortable couch to sink into. It’s a place not really conducive to groups of more than two, when you get down to it. I suppose that’s not all bad—no giant, annoying groups of high schoolers then—but it’s still a bit restricting.
Your thoughts?
Charmer’s / Flickr
March 1, 2009In the midst of incredible procrastination this evening, I decided to go through all my old pictures—organize them digitally, change the dates, and put them into neat, little iPhoto events and whatnot. Still not ready to turn to Kafka, I ended up creating a Flickr.
All this time-wasting may make my Monday morning crazy, but my reminiscing Sunday was quite worth it, I think (at least, that’s what I think so far). Either way, especially nice was meeting the inimitable Shar-Shar Binx at Charmer’s this morning to talk about love and life or Gott und die Welt, if that’s how you roll. Speaking of German, actually, I’ve been toying with this interesting Berlin trip idea for next summer. Let me mull it over a bit more, and I think I’ll be ready to make my radical post/plan about a 100-day adventure soon. ’til tomorrow!
Friedrich Hebbel
February 6, 2009So I’m working hard on this research award these days, starting to really delve into Hebbel’s sonnets (after trudging through the songs). I’m really diggin’ on the guy now, and he gets extra points for chillaxin’ in Vienna for the later part of his life. But, the more I read, the less I’m sure he actually did any chillaxin’!
Multiple plays and a ridiculous amount of poems each year—there’s so much to get through! Didn’t he ever just hang out in the coffeehouse? Now I’m actually starting to pity him, to tell you the truth, especially seeing that he died in 1863. Maybe he just missed the big coffeehouse boom! Poor guy…
